ok so here's the deal my fiance and i have been putting off marriage because he lives in the us and i live in canada if i marry him in canada and we start the pr papers for him as a spouse how long till he can work? he will have student loan payments to make almost right away and i can affor to keep us going for a time but how long till he can start working?

If you apply outland, it generally takes around 6 months, but it could possibly take more than that (or less!). Keep in mind that many of the documents you will need, such as Option C printout, FBI background check, etc will take several weeks to come in, perhaps even months, so you should get on top of finding out all that you will need, and you can get started on obtaining those documents before you even get married. If he has federal student loans he can get a forebearance if he proves he isn't working, so that should help out with your financial situation.
