Wanted to check with past ITA receivers that is there a difference between documents requested after ITA for FSW vs CEC. I believe some members are qualified for both FSW and CEC and system by default give ITA for FSW category so was curious to know if there is any difference in the document requested in the 2 categories. Any information would be really helpful.

No real difference - Medicals, PCC(s), POF, Work reference letters, Marriage and related documents are required in either case. ECA might not be needed of the CEC applicant hasn't claimed points for foreign education credentials but everything else remains the same.

CIC is proving to be slightly liberal on POF requirements for applicants who have valid work permits and Canadian jobs. But that has nothing to do with them being invited under FSW or CEC.

Thanks for the inputs .
In my case i am working in Canada and is eligible for both FSW and CEC so was just wondering whether which category route should i take. I have ECA as well and have most of the documents. Would it be better if i change something in profile so that am just eligible for just CEC or it doesnt matter. I think i read in forum people change in POF section the amount figure to make them eligible just for CEC.

You can try that. Not sure if that works.

What will definitely work is if you fall below 67/100 on the FSW grid. Removing your foreign education credential and ECA will most likely make you ineligible, check that for yourself.

HI Asivad,

I am a 6th draw invitee and submitted the app on May 25th under FSW as In-Canada applicant. Initially, I submitted the app deferring the Chest X-Ray for pregnant spouse. After submitting the app, I got couple of ghost emails and that stopped completely for last few weeks. I see two lines in ECAS currently and it currently says application received. I remember seeing either In progress or In process... one of the two.. but havent paid that much attention until u highlighted the difference in other posts.

10 days ago, I have completed the pending x-ray as well.

Assuming that the lazy clinic staff does their job of uploading the pending medical details in next 10 days, am I correct in my assumption that I get to hear back something in the next 8 weeks or so?? I am hoping that the whole thing would be complete, in my favor of course, in the next two months or so.

Just wanted to know what your thoughts on the timelines thats going on these days..

At least since mid-June, CIC appears to be clearing a lot of backlog of inlanders with a whole lot of applicants reporting PPRs and some of them getting cancelled as well. Not sure if they are settling into any kind of routine just yet.

8 weeks to a decision sounds alright from the time of getting your medicals cleared.

All the best!

Thank you.
Have I past the stage of getting cancelled with 2 lines of ECAS or still in the danger zone?
Getting it cancelled for right reasons is one thing. Seen posts that even though applicants uploaded all the docs yet CIC came back saying that they are missing them and the app was cancelled.

Just wanted to know if I am past that stage (of confusion) now or not yet.

Application Received is still very much in the danger zone. Moving to "In Process" is relatively safer. The only cancellations I can recall from that stage or "Decision Made" involved LMIA offers not having the word 'Permanent' in them.

Having said that, I should also add that a lot of this is conjecture based on forum information which is possibly reflecting 20% of the overall applicant pool. There could be other cases out there - positive and negative - that we wouldn't know of in here. It all comes down to what kind of a person you are - half full or half empty.

Hang in there and wait for the process to unfold. All the best!
