Hi January 29th 2025 my husband had an interview in Ankara for spousal sponsorship(Family class), we are in this endless process from 2022. Officer told us we would get an answer in two to three weeks, she said she needed to consult with the lawyers also. More than three months passed and still nothing, emailed them, tried to call but couldn't reach, just auto response. I wonder if anyone is in the same situation?

Was this an appeal after a denial? Are either or you refugees or protected people? Are you living in Quebec?

It's hard for anyone of us give you some advice when we don't know the context of your application. Some process is complex due many circumstances of the sponsor or PA, but I'm sure they will get a end in your application. Hope you have a good news anytime soon.

No none of them. It's the second time we are applying, the firs time in 2019 it was rejected due to misrepresentation, first time than he had interview my husband didn't mention that previously he had false foreign passport.

So did he apply for another immigration program with the false passport or did he use it during the 1st attempt at spousal sponsorship? Did he receive a ban for the misrepresentation? If so how long? When did you get married and how much time have you spent together in person since getting married? How did you get your status in Canada? Assume there is a high chance that your husband is not Turkish and may be an asylum seeker or living without status in Turkey and may be from one of the neighbouring countries like Syria. Are you working with a lawyer?

I'm sorry for hear that. Misrepresentation does not ban you to apply for Family Sponsorship, but you will need a huge effort and patience to proof that your relationship is genuine.

You can receive a ban for misrepresentation incident so it’s important to figure out if a ban was issued and if so the length of the ban.

The applicant still has a chance to apply again on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. As you can see, the principal applicant (PA) in this post applied again three years after being rejected. Of course, it’s a complex case, which explains why the PA has been waiting for a decision since 2022.

I never said they were banned for ever applying. It is unclear when the misrepresentation actually occurred and if it was done during the first family sponsorship application. When the misrepresentation. occurred and what were the consequences were are very important details. So is how much time the couple has spent together and when they got married. It is also unclear what has actually been happening with the 2nd attempt at sponsorship. We are missing a lot of details about the 2nd attempt at family sponsorship and whether there is a lawyer involved even after IRCC basically told OP they need a lawyer.
