You need to work in Canada for at least 3 years and prove that your income is sufficient to support your own family as well as your parents. The quota for parents is fast to fill up so you have only one chance per year to apply and the processing time takes years. Your parents will have to pass medicals to prove that they will not be a burden on health care.
If you just want to keep your parents close with less requirements, you can apply for a super visa for them. You also have to show income in order to support them and you have to have private health insurance for them while they stay with you but with this visa, they can visit you for up to 2 years at a time.
If you do not meet the requirements to apply for a super visa, you can help your parents apply for a regular visit visa by writing them a letter of invitation, promising to take care of their expenses and that they will not overstay. With a regular visit visa, they can visit for 6 months at a time and there is an option to extend their stay if they want to stay longer. If you do get them over for a visit, you should also make sure they have travel insurance for emergencies because otherwise it can get very expensive if they have an accident or an emergency illness in Canada.
