Dear All,

In my current NOC, my experience starts from June-2006.

I applied to CIO in March-10, got the approval in May-10, and in June-10 my 4th year of experience has been successfully completed, while in my application i claimed points for 3 years exp only. Now, my question is that, i'm gathering documents and will my visa office consider my experience till the date when i applied to CIO which is 3 years and some months!! or the current working experience which is now 4 years?? i hope it is the current experience as i claimed 16 points for IELTS, but i think i'll get 14 because i lost concentration in the listening section and messed up, so if its this way then i wont have to give IELTS again.

Waiting for your comments guys !! please and thank you ..

Hi Scroot - since you need to sign the application again before you send it to the visa office, you can update both the language proficiency section and the experience section. It's important to add a cover letter explaining the changes so that the visa office understands what changed. Once they have your application, the visa office will evaluate it based on the points at the time of review so you'll be alright with the changes, as long as you submit the relevant supporting documents.

Lock in date just means that your application will be considered based on the rules in place on THAT date (unless an exception is made later explicitly). For example, even though the Ministerial Instructions issued on June 26 2010 changed the rules, your application is still undergoing the older process (e.g., you used the simplified application for the CIO and are sending documents to the visa office).

If you read the letter you got from the CIO in detail, you should see something about please ensuring your application is up to date, make any necessary changes and attach an explanation for the visa office (or, at least, that is usually in the AOR) so you should update the application to reflect the reality on the day you sign it and submit it to the visa office.

(and, btw, it won't end there, the visa office AOR will instruct you to advise them on material changes to your application - employment, address, family members, etc.)
