Hi,
I was wondering if after the 1st stage approval (AIP) can one travel outside Canada? or is it like only after getting PR you can travel outside Canada.

regards

You're allowed to travel outside Canada at all times. It's just not recommended, because you could have trouble getting back in and if you're not available in Canada when CIC requests you to be, your application will be rejected.

So if you are certain you can get back in, go for it. But I'd recommend not risking it unless absolutely necessary.

LOTS of people have done it without trouble, but that doesn't mean your situation will be the same.

There are so many unknown factors that possibly could contribute to not being granted re-entry- what country you are from, how often you've gone back and forth, what things you've said to the officer in the past (which will be in their system), what type of immigration officer you end up speaking with etc etc.

There's no way of knowing, based on other people's experiences, what will happen to you if you leave. I always tell people that they leave at their own risk. It's up to you... it's your application, it's the hard work you'll have to do if you're refused entry.
