Hi,

My visa office (Manila) emailed me last week to request an additional document (Police certificate). I responded to the email asking for clarification (what, exactly, do they need?) and I received an automated message immediately confirming the receipt of the email, then another automated email the next day confirming the date my email was received.

Since then, no reply to my question. Does anyone know if VOs respond to requests for clarification about additional documents or not? They also gave us 45 days to comply with the request. I wonder if the time we spend waiting for an answer from them is counted within the 45 days.

Also, if the VO does not reply, are we supposed to take a blind guess about what they want and send... just something?

(for clarification:
I sent 3 police certificates from 3 countries. They requested 1 of them, but did not indicate if the one we sent had not been received at all, or was not to their liking for some reason, or if it was too old. (It was 2 months old by the time CIC received it, and the other 2 police certificates were also dated around the same time.) In response to their email I sent a scan of the original police certificate I had sent them, and asked if they received it at all, and if they did, what was inappropriate about the document (the date? the authority that had issued it? the wording? the fact that it was in my maiden name? (the other 2 police certificates were also in my maiden name).)

I'll be grateful for any insight into this!

to see what the current "trend" is for manila, i suggest going to the thread for that visa office. there may be a spreadsheet that tracks the time between additional requests and the rest of the process. from there you may be able to estimate how long you will be waiting.

Thanks, rhcohen2014!

Currently, I'm more concerned about being refused PR for not having the right documents than how long the whole process will take. They asked us to send a document we already sent - and they're not telling us why. We're afraid to send the same document again, because if they didn't accept it the first time, why would they accept it the second time? (Unless the document was LOST and they don't have the document in question...)

Any thoughts hugely appreciated! Thank you!

i would just follow their request and order a new record. if it's impossible to get it in the time allowed, then send an email to the VO showing you have put in the request and will forward upon receiving it.
