Hello All,

I am an Afghan Citizen holding Canadian PR card, I would like to travel outside canada to get married, I have been checking the flights they are all like Ottawa-Boston-India

I have been reading news, reports and all my friends are telling me, that i might need USA transit visa, even though if:
My layover is less than 24 hours,
I am not leaving the airport,
I am not going through Immigration to get on the other plane
I change my plan

I have to have transit visa, because its the new President and new rules.

But I checked that for Travel Banned/Restricted countries, Afghanistan's name is not in the list.

Expert advise needed please if someone has gone through lately, please please share your experience.

Thanks alot in advance

You need to obtain a US visa to transit through the US. This rule has been in place for many years now for non-visa exempt travelers. This has nothing to do with the new President. And it has nothing to do with travel bans.

Air Canada flies direct to India via Toronto I think.

They absolutely do. Someone on my team just returned from a trip and flew direct.
