I live in Bahrain and my spouse is sponsoring me. We recently got our marraige certificate translated and notarized. We need to get an affidavit.
My question is that is it necessary to get the affidavit notarized too or we can just get it attested from a commissioner of oath as we have been having difficulty getting our affidavit notarized.

Thank you in advance

Spousal Sponsorship Guide......

Translation of documents
You must send the following for any document that is not in English or French, unless otherwise stated on your document checklist:
  • the English or French translation; and
  • an affidavit from the person who completed the translation (see below for details); and
  • a certified copy of the original document.
Note: An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a person authorized to administer oaths in the country where the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document.

The translator has sworn, in the presence of a person authorized to administer oaths.....not sure you need to notarize the affidavit.......ask your Sponsor living inside Canada to call IRCC to clarify.......1-888-242-2100, from within Canada only, 8am to 4pm local time.
