Hi Guys,

My case is also similar to the few cases I have seen in the thread but am still a little confused as to how I should proceed and your advise would help me.

I am the main applicant and my family & myself received PR on 15th March 2016 (this is the date at the back of the card). The expiry date is 15th April, 2021 on the front of the card. I have landed on 6th June, 2018 (I had done soft landing and stayed for 25 days), doing a job and expecting my family to join in later next year by June 2019.

Now, if they come here in June 2019, they would not be able to meet the 730 days requirement for PR renewal. Do I have to call them earlier (by Mar or April 2019) and if they still come on June 2019, do I have any other option to renew the PR.

Advise me to take a right call...

The date on the card is irrelevant. The date you landed in Canada is the date you need to worry about. 2 years in 5 from the date you/they landed. Make sure you bring them to Canada to meet the RO or they will potentially loose their PR status.

Yes they should arrive before March. If you plan on taking any vacations you need to account for that time as well and your family should consider arriving in January.

Alright guys...got it...I wasn't aware that it is 730 days from the date of first landing. That's clear now.

But the second part of my query, if due to some reasons, they cannot come before march/april 2019 and manage to come after that...
1. Would there be a problem at the immigration in Canada
2. Any other option (humanitarian grounds or family sponsorship) considering that by then, I would have renewed my PR and they have stayed in the country for more than 1.5 yrs or little more than that.
3. Considering they are allowed entry; in both the scenarios, is it legal for them to stay or they need to exit the country.

1. If they arrive and at that time they can't meet their RO technically they can be reported for not meeting their RO in 2019. They will be let into the country and could appeal. The chances of being reported in March/April next year is pretty low. They should stay in Canada until they have completed the 730 days in Canada. The PR card is just a travel document so if your family remains in Canada not meeting their RO won't affect them.

2. Meeting RO is individual matter. You meeting your RO would not create H&C reasons for your family.

Ok...
1. What is the process in case if the case is reported and we appeal &
2. If it is not reported, can we make a PR renewal application on completion of 730 days stay in the country, (though by then the expiry date on the PR would have already lapsed)
