Hello everyone,

I hope you guys are well. Asking this on behalf of my friend.

My friend had virtual interview and the first question was being asked Are you residing in Canada and second question was asked if you ever had immigration or police interaction my friend said no. My friend had a police interaction in the past where my friend had to signed up a peace bond which is expired before filing for citizenship. Interview lasted for about 10-15 minutes and went well and at the end officer said everything looks good at their and they’re waiting for the security clearance. They don’t know how long that takes because of backlog. And they said my friend can’t do anything on their end either.

My friend has applied for pardon. He is so worried since in a flick of a moment my friend didn’t realize what to answer all though my friends valuable background check is absolutely clear and my friend was declare innocent from court too.

my friend is concerned if they know already about his past and they put him as a misrepresentation. Although things looking fine but my friend is thinking to write a letter of explanation and send court document as the offence was also minor (summary) but afraid of being acccused of misrepresentation.

Please help your advisory whether he’s thinking too much or just send them explanation later or maybe sending explaintion later will back fire?

thank you

So your friend quite clearly committed misrepresentation in the interview. Probably best to talk to an immigration lawyer at this point for advice on next steps.
