After more than 20 months of waiting due to medical inadmissibility for my disabled son, the rules have changed and we have been asked to send the passports to the Embassy in AD. When they approved our medical, they extended its validity to 7 May 2019, which means this is the expiry date of the visa.

As you know, we have children who need to finish the school year, and I am a teacher myself, so I asked them to
- either extend the validity of the medical (and consequently the visa) to July 2019
- or allow us to re-do the medicals so that the visa validity is extended.

However, they refused and suggested that we do the landing before May 2019 and do the final move after 2 months in July 2019, which is a very big hassle in terms of time, money and effort especially with 3 young children including a disabled child.

Is there a way through which we can extend the visa validity to July 2019 instead of May 2019?

Many thanks in advance for your understanding
Best Regards

How old are your children? Is it a big deal to finish the school year?

it is the school year and several other considerations.

by the way in case, there is no way out whatsoever, can I do the landing in the city of airport in which I land without going to New Brunswick, the province through which I got the ITA? Of course I am planning to settle in NB, but my question relates to the landing city only.

You can land wherever you wish. IRCC doesn't extend landing dates. If you've asked and IRCC has refused - then you have your answer. It's basically "use it or lose it" - meaning land before the current expiry date on your visas or apply again from scratch. You don't have to move by May - you just have to fly to Canada and complete landing activities. You can return home immediately afterwards.

You don't even need a week. You literally just have to enter through an international airport into Canada - to complete landing. You can leave the same afternoon or next day if you wish.

This is reassuring

So there is no need to visit the province that gave me the nomination

Thank you very much
