My partner and i are looking at emigrating to canada. She is a school teacher and im a mechanic. im unsure of what class to apply under as i plan on keeping my job in the uk and commuting back (work a 2 week on, 3 week off rota). Could anyone please advise?? Surely it must be simplier to gain a visa if im in work and can financial support myself and partner? Thanks

Simpler? No, it's not really simpler. Unless you get a work permit, a student visa or find an immigration class that allows you to apply for permanent residency, you really have no right to live in Canada. You can come to Canada as a visitor and stay up to 6 months and then you have to go home. You can rent a house but you can't work. Your kids may not have the right to attend school and you would not qualify for health care.

So go back to the CIC website and find a way for you and your wife to apply for immigration. Maybe you will need a job offer, maybe it's better to start on a temporary work permit or maybe one of you feels like going back to school. For sure there is a way if you want to.
