Hi,

I'm a UK citizen who entered Canada on 2017-10-12. Since then I have applied for a visitor extension, which was approved. I then missed the expiry of my extension, and had to apply for restoration of status which was approved, with an expiry date of 2019-03-01. (March)

Listed under conditions on my current visitor record, is 'must leave Canada by 2019-03-01'.

I am looking to apply for a TRP, with an open work permit, but I am unsure if the 'must leave by date' would be replaced by implied status once my application has been submitted?

My personal situation is I have lived with my Canadian partner since i arrived, and we have been in a relationship since 2015. We have one daughter together, and baby due in April. She has 2 children from a previous relationship who both live with is, and I am a primary caregiver for. She will be on maternity leave soon so if I'm in Canada I have to be working. After reading about TRP it sounds like our best shot.

We are looking to apply for a spousal sponsorship but their are complications - she has a bankruptcy from 2014 which we are trying to find evidence of discharge for. But as I understand it you do not get implied status while waiting on permanent residency decisions anyhow, and you must maintain your temporary status.

Am I headed in the right direction here?!

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Andy thanks for the reply.

I think i misunderstood TRP, i thought it was for those who didn't fall within regular visas, but had a real compelling reason to be in Canada.

I haven't been working, I've been a stay at home dad. Prior to that in the UK I was a key account manager for Wolseley, nothing which really constitutes skilled work.
