Advice Needed: Passport Renewal & Visitor Visa Extension in Canada

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding my mother's stay in Canada. She is currently here on a visitor visa extension that expires in Feb 2025. Her passport is also expiring next year, and I was considering applying for her passport renewal from here in Canada.

Is it possible to renew her passport while she is on a visitor visa? If so, once we've submitted the passport application and until she receives the new passport, can she remain in Canada under implied status if I submit a new visitor visa application using her new passport details?

She can renew her passport as that is not a Canadian immigration issue. She cannot apply for a visitor visa from within Canada.
