My father applied for a visitor visa to Canada in June 2022 from Muscat, Oman. He renewed his passport in Dec 2022 and raised a webform to amend the application with the new passport details. His visa got approved in Feb 2023 and he submitted his new passport. The counterfoil was generated in the new passport with the validity till 2032.
When he recently travelled to Canada from Muscat - Frankfurt - Montreal, he was denied boarding in Frankfurt during transit stating that the visa is invalid, and the visa and passport information do not match even when the counterfoil information matches with his current passport information. He is a frequent traveller and has already travelled using that passport. Later the airline authorities allowed him to board the flight the next day consulting immigration officers . When he scanned his passport at the port of entry (Montreal), he didn't have any issues.
Has anyone come across such a situation? I am not sure whom to contact to verify the information. Should I call IRCC and verify the passport number on the file (which could possibly be the old one)? Or is it an airline issue? I do not want him to face this issue when he travels to Canada the next time.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
