Hey Everyone, I'm in desperate need for advice on the above. Got told yesterday that my credit card has been compromised and that it needs to be cancelled. It is the credit card I intended to use to pay my application fee. Is there any way I can contact the processing office in Sydney and let then know my situation. I sent an email to the generic email address this morning and received the automated response saying 30 working days before they reply. My payment is due to be taken in the next couple of weeks and if my application gets sent back and I have to resend I'm gonna have to leave the country as my visa will expire. Has anyone been in a similar situation, what did you do?

Thanks

Rick

Thanks for the bump Arowberry, it seems there is no way to contact them, even in emergencies. The CIC helpline was useless, just told me to email the generic address. I'm going to send in amended payment details today with a note on the front of the envelope and a cover letter inside. I don't think its going to help because all mail received probably just gets thrown on a pile for 2 months until they decide to deal with it. I can't believe they don't have a way of handling emergency situations like this

First Thing AOR(App #) is provided only when your documents are OK and your payment for the application is done successfully .
Currently in your payment form your credit card info is compromised and probably would have been blocked by now , for sure CIC will not be able to charge the money .

My Advice

Fact is As there is no reference number on your side where you can help CIC to track down your application package in NS Sydney to update the new Payment form with New Credit Card info .

1. You can send a New Post with Duly signed New CC details and referencing to the Tracking number of your actual application package and can explain them in letter your credit card got compromised after you sent the application . There is 40-60% chance that this shot will work as it depend on CIC people effort to track down your application package and add it to that .

2. Wait for your application package to be returned because they couldn't charge money and unfortunately you have to send the application again.

Here are a few threads discussing the same problem:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/credit-card-cancelled-t153145.0.html
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/lost-credit-card-while-application-is-under-process-with-cic-t244923.0.html
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/lost-credit-card-t238035.0.html

There are a couple of different things you can do.
(1) Email & Mail the CIC a covering letter referencing the date your application was received at the CIC, the situation and your personal info. Include a new credit card authorisation form. This has worked in the past, but obviously isn't guaranteed.

(2) Submit another application now (this would involve getting IELTS result copies and new passport photos. This isn't ideal, but may save you some time if your current application is rejected.

Best of luck :)

First of all do not panic and stay cool to avoid mistakes.

You can do 2 things as stated by otheres.

1) Send a detail email as well as hardcopy letter to CIC sydney explaining situation.
You can use the below mail address to reach them.
CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry@cic.gc.ca

2) You can be prepared of a 2nd set of application.

I am sure you will able to update your payment details using method 1.During my application period Post canda lost my 1st set of application while delivering. So i have sent them the 2nd application. Now irony is that my 1st application reached there and I did get AOR based on the 1st application which was declared lost by Post Canada.
I Contacted the above email id to get back my 2nd set of duplicate application from Sydney.Make sure when you send email or mail communication
put "Urgent" on top of that what was advised to me that time by CIC call center , and mark my word that worked for me.
Do not worry...stay calm and act quickly on this.Every thing will be fine.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm trying to remain calm and composed. The fact that my current work visa expires on 26th December doesn't help.

I've emailed twice now and got the automated response, in my latest email I also mentioned that I'll be sending in an amended payment form today via Fedex overnight, which I'll be posting in the next hour. I have included a cover letter which explains my situation, and have included a screenshot of proof of delivery for the original application along with the amended payment form. I've also made a note on the envelope that there is an amended payment form enclosed and put my full applicant name on it.

Fingers, Toes, and everything else crossed that this gets taken care of, the thought of uprooting and heading back to the UK doesn't really appeal

Thanks again for your help everyone.

Just thought I'd update this in case others have the same misfortune. Got my refused app back in the post today. Pretty gutted as its quite likely i now have to leave Canada while they process my app.

I have a few unrelated questions but I'll open a new thread
