Advice for extension of visitor application, please.

Hello, I have some questions. I am an American female who has been staying with my Canadian boyfriend in Canada for five months. My visitor status ends Dec 14, 2015 unless I am approved for another six months. I am a day or two away from being ready to mail it, I just have a couple final questions before I do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

1. When mailing it in rather than going online, how exactly do I mail it? UPS signature required? I know online is faster but I am having trouble uploading a clean version of my visa picture and I have a lot of pages for my documents so I found it would be less stress just to do it all on paper.

2.Our original plan was to try to extend for the purpose of gaining common law status. I read on other forums that mentioning this, or that you are engaged, will make them think that you would overstay your visa and that your intent is to settle instead of leaving when your visa is up, and they will deny it. I changed the focus of my application to say that I was "exploring my relationship further," since most of our relationship has been done via distance, and we have only had short sporadic visits with each other prior to this extended visit in Canada. Now I am reading recent replies on this forum that people had great luck just saying they were trying to apply for common law status, so I'm just not sure what to do as far as my reason.

3. How do I show proper ties to my country of origin? I have no lease, I do not live in the same state as my immediate family, I have no job in the states. I will definitely go back if I have to, of course. I have no intention of ruining my chances to gain PR status and live permanently with my partner. I have no way to prove that it would be easy for me to re-assimilate into my former life in the states, but I do believe that if I had to leave I could stay with a friend and get rehired at my old job. I also could just go back to live with family in Indiana if it came down to it. I worry that a good faith promise will not be good enough for CIC.

Thank you anyone who read this and can offer me any advice. Sorry this was so long, I pruned out a lot of anxious rambling.

1) Can't help you with this.
2) You should say you are requesting an extension because you are working on completing a year of living together to become common law and apply for PR. Based on what we've seeon on this forum, CIC seems to almost always accept this as a reason for an extension.
3) Can't help you with this.

Thank you! I have reworked my paperwork to reflect that. I have also added details about my pregnant sister and my other soon-to-be-married sister as ties to country, as well as explaining the high likelihood of being able to get my job back if necessary.

that was the stuff i was most nervous about.

If you need to mail your application I would get tracking & a signature. For sure tracking at the least.
Your reason for the extension would be that you want to establish
a Common law relationship so you can apply for PR.
I did not have or show strong ties to the US. I did have a return ticket and sent a copy of that. I never even knew I needed to prove any ties to my country. I hope this helps! Good Luck!!

I'll ask here instead of opening another thread.

What happens if the TRV extension is rejected? How long does the visitor have to leave Canada?

The processing times are long...so if one applies after 5 months, the original 6 months will expire and there will be implied status. The response may come 2-3 months later...it's not reasonable to expect that one can just leave Canada the same day. How much time does CIC give?
