has anyone tried to sponsor his/her adopted child? i would just like to ask for the requirements needed by the canadian embassy in manila? and is it a long process or just the same as the processing time of a legitimate child?

You will need to start by submitting your application to sponsor at CPC-M. Once you get the approval to sponsor (applications for adopted children are processed on daily basis) it will be transferred to Manila. After sponsorship approval, processing time in Manila is showing 39 months on CIC website for adopted children and 11 months for your biological children. Actual times, most likely, are shorter.jane_acueza said:

I do not know the exact answer to that. But from what I understand, you will be required to provide additional documentation for adopted children. That may add some additional time to processing.jane_acueza said:
For adopted children: Adoption petition, adoption decision (certified true copy), child study report and home study report from Canada, original birth certificate indicating the names of the natural parents, amended birth certificate indicating the names of the adoptive parents and evidence of communication with the sponsor, including correspondence (with envelopes), photos, long distance phone calls, receipts for financial support if applicable.

If you are the sponsor and are sponsoring your spouse, then the spouse's children can be sponsored as his dependents. If this is the case, the fact you have also adopted the child should not delay processing, and the processing time should be about the same as if you had not adopted the child and he was coming just as a dependent of your husband's.
