admission process of university of manitoba

Hello all,
i have applied for M.eng in Civil engineering at university of manitoba.
and i have an advisor there before application filling.
i just want to know what are the chances of getting admission there if i apply under that advisor.
Do i have to look for other universities or stay sure from UoM?
