Hi Guys,

This question might have been asked already but I'm about to send my application and I have a question regarding question 5C: "List all your Canadian and overseas addresses in the past four (4) years".

For the past four years, I have been out of the country 5 times for no more than 6 days (mostly to the US for vacation), and one time to Europe one month for a training.

Should I include every addresses outside Canada even if I stayed there for less than a week ? Some people advised me to only include my address in Europe since I stayed there longer and also because my travels are already included in the online calculator. Are they right?

Thanks for the advise.

your adresses is where you "LIVED", if everyone had to list all the addresses that they have been at in 4 years, you would need to fill a large book! Did you live at an address when you went on vacation? no, your address where you lived was back in Canada.

You dont need to add those addresses as it is not your residence. If any of it was your residence (rented, owned, guest) then include them. It is difficult to include all addresses that you have stayed during travel. If that has to be included what about the stay in other cities within Canada when u travel. So please include address that you have stayed more than a month

Thank you jhjeppe, it makes indeed sense to only include addresses where I lived for the last four years.

Thank you chikloo, the only place I've rented was in Europe for the one month training. Do you think that I don't even need to include that one since it was less than a month and wasn't my primary residence? Thanks

The rule of thumb I applied was the following:

Any address where you had your mail (re-)directed to (i.e. where your bills, bank statements go to).

Example: I was travelling for almost two months all accross Canada. During that time I had all my mail go to a friends place, and this is the address I used for my drivers license and the one I indicated with my application.

@sokratos

Any trips outside Canada would go to online residence calculator.

There is an exception, if you went outside Canada and you didn't have any primary home in Canada then the address where you lived outside Canada would go to the last 4 years address history.

Here are two scenarios:
You stayed for 1 month outside Canada in Europe and during same time you had a primary residence in Canada then you need to mention the primary canadian address in 4 years address history.

You stayed for 1 month outside Canada in Europe and during same time DID NOT have a primary residence in Canada then you need to mention the European address address in 4 years address history.

Perfect summary!

Thank you very much for this summary, I will only include my Canadian address since my primary address was in Canada.

I have another stupid question though, I was wondering whether sending my application in French or English would have any impact on how fast CIC will proceed. one could argue that there are far more people working in English in Nova Scotia than French or language has not impact whatsoever on the process? Just a thought.

I don't think that submitting application in french would have any impact upon the speed because in the Government, french and english has the equal status.

CIC does not distinguish eng vs french.
