address update - newdelhi office.

hi guys,

i sent my full application to ndelhi office just around 2 weeks back and it reached them on 18th of Aug 2009. Right now "the address for communication" with their records is my friend's address in canada. I am worried that the communication letters sent by ndelhi office to my friend's address (in canada) has got the chances of getting missed in the transit (as it has to travel from one country to another and moreover will the ndelhi office send it as AIRMAIL? Will they?).

So, I would like to update it to my own permanent address in india.
1) would it be a rite time to request the ndelhi office for the address update?
2) will this addresss update request at this time delay the processing?
3) i have already requested for the address update with a coverign letter attached with the Full Package. But there are chances that they may miss/ ignore that.
4) what would be the apt way to get the address updated? email or fax or what else?

Please help.

why did you say they would ignore your cover letter for the address change?
since you have already requested for them to change your address by writing them all you need to do is wait.
It may take up to 28days for them to update your address. Did you know that?

It is not exactly the covering letter where i had mentioned the request for the address change. hope u know that there is a need for us to send a "Mean time Changes in the Application Form" to the local office with the full package. So, in that i had requested for the change in the communication address. Not sure, they will consider that.......becoz, i have seen in this forum guys complaining that they sent a letter/ fax requesting for the update of address and the CIC website still shows the old address and the communications from the visa office still going to the old address and getting lost. i have seen people in this forum screeming about that issue...plz suggest.

Moreover, if the communication address is a canada address, will New Delhi office send the communication via AIRMAIL or they will not send that communication instead? I am asking this question as i have not received the AOR yet while people sent their full application at the same time like me got he AOR in their respective addresss. plz advice.

I don't think they will communicate with applican'ts whose adress is outside India. As you have made an error, you have to get it corrected by any means. Try to send a fax requesting to change the address to the current one. I can't say whether there will be an immediate action on it. Once you can get access to the ECAS you can change the address on line. Good luck!!!.

tnx for your kind reply. refering to your response "Once you can get access to the ECAS you can change the address on line.".... i have already got acces to the ECAS. But, i dont think we can update the communication address using this (i am from india only, but i had given my friend's canada address as communication address thinking that all the communications till end of the PR processing will be only sent by canada CIO-sydney. but now only i came to know that all the communications after the initial assessment stage by CIO will be only sent by ndelhi offcie). please advice me, if there is a way to update the address using their CIC website?

as picked up from the cic website (address update service requirements)
You may use this on-line service if:

. your case is being processed in Canada;
. your address is in Canada;
. you are moving within three weeks;
. you have not been requested to report your change of address in person to your local office.
. If your case is being processed abroad, please contact the Canadian Visa Office nearest you.
