Additional Family information form 5406

Hi,

I was going well filling out the additional family information form 5406, until I started searching on the web and found some conflicting information.
So I am hoping someone out there can help address one or two questions that I have.

Does the applicant have to include their brothers and sisters?
Does the sponsor (Canadian born) have to complete their own version of this form? On some sites its says they don't so really confused on this one. If the sponsor does need to complete their own version, do they have to include their children who are Canadian born and not financially dependent on us?

The form is pretty clear about who to include. If it says siblings, then you must list them.

Only the applicant needs to fill it out, not the sponsor.

I understand your confusion. Only when I began searching on the web too, to make sure I was filling it out properly, that I got even more confused.

As the sponsor, I had filled out this form with my side of family info out of anxiety (the confusion led to my anxiety).

CIC had returned my package because I was missing this form for the application and I didn't want them to return it to me twice, just because I find they could have made their instructions a tiny bit more precise.

I think as soon as we read: the principal applicant, their spouse or common-law partner on IMM5406 and then they put in brackets (if applicable) must complete their own copy of this form , our minds asks: What do you mean if applicable? Isn't this a spouse sponsorship? Lol

I'm sure if they put the title of the document Generic IMM5406 we'd stop worrying over this form. (Or maybe if we read the form at a time when we are really not stressed, our minds may have understood that one little sentence right on the spot.)

After all, for future applicants who decide to search the web and Google IMM5406 and end up on this page, even if the sponsor fills out their own copy of this form, when they didn't need to, CIC will just disregard it.

There is no form IMM5406 in Sponsor package
