Hi.

I am filling up the form on Additional Family Information.

In Section B - Children

I am the principal applicant, and I have never had any children. While my sponsor has some children.

I am applying as common-law. I am the one being sponsored.

Should I leave this section blank because I don't have children or should I put the names of my sponsor's children??

thank you :)

Because you are not married, I would assume you would not put the children there as 'step' children because you don't have the 'legal' ties to them by being common law.

Of course, with this paperwork, as always, I will defer if someone here has more knowledge in regards to that part of the application and common law.

If you have no legal adoption or custody of those children, they are not yours to list. If they are your sponsors children, then wouldn't they already be Canadian citizens?

You are correct, they are already citizens, however the 'additional family form' is where you list your family, whether they are Canadians and/or non accompanying. This is where your mother/father/siblings come in as well.

Ahhhhh, ok I read that wrong. I assumed she was referring to IMM0008. My apologies!

But, I'll still say no, if she has no legal ties to those children.

Oh for sure, yes, I agree. Those children should NOT be listed on the form ;)
