Additional family info for a transit visa?

Hello everyone

I applied for a transit visa and I just got a request in order to continue my application:

> Additional Family Info IMM5406: A separate and newly completed Additional Family
Information form (IMM5406) bearing original signatures

> Income, proof: Proof of income This must be received at this office by: 11/25/2013

The weird thing is they ask me for this in reference as an application for a temporary residence, while I only requested a transit one.

So my questions are these:

1.- Where do I find that IMM5406 form? I've already checked here in their official application forms page and can't find it.

2.- Is there a way to comunicate to the someone taking care of my application? I'd like to clarify that I applied for a transit visa, not a temporary residence.

I'm kind of in a rush, since my travel day will be the first half of December.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi

A transit visa is still a form of temporary residence, you will temporarily be in Canada, even if only for a few hours. Though I agree it is odd to request an IMM5406 for a transit visa, you need to send it.

1. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=imm5406

2. There's not really a way to get in touch with CIC besides email, which can take up to 30 days for a response. Just send the requested forms ASAP.

Heh. I did find some forms through google, but I expected some kind of "official" way. I'm not that dumb :(

It seems I'll have to do it then... I just hope they reply sooner rather than later!

Thanks for your quick response :)

Ok, I already sent the required documents, but I haven't received a confirmation email as I did when I sent the first required documents. Is that normal?

Also, in case I get it approved, what's next? Do I have to send my passport to Canada (I'm from Perú) and they give it back to me? If so, is there any average response time for that? I've been reading that system is a bit flawed.

Thanks for your help!

Sometimes they email, sometimes they don't.

They will request your passport at the Lima office to issue your visa. I don't know how long it will take to get the passport back.

Update on my transit visa!

I received an email 2 days ago requesting my passport, in order to finish the visa process, which was approved. I asked when could I get my passport back, and they told me it'd be ready as fast as the next day (Lima agency, it was REALLY fast! Thank you guys, I love you all :-* ). I will go and get my passport next tuesday, one week before my trip to Europe.

So, in short, this is how it worked:

Application submit: November 12th
Extra info submit: November 19th
Passport request: December 3th (I sent an email one day before, not sure if it influenced or whatsoever)
Passport drop: December 4th
Passport ready: December 5th

I hope this helps to anyone applying from Lima embassy. And good luck to you all!
