Hello everyone. I'm starting this thread to share information about the process of adding a spouse (in my case a common - law partner) to my federal stage, after my medicals were done. Here's the story.
I am a BC PNP applicant, and my federal application was submitted on January, 20 2012. I have done my medicals in March 2012, and since them Im waiting for my PPR. My partner and I have been together for almost 4 years, and living together in Canada for 1.5 years. The reason why I didin't add him to my application was that we were still not living together for more than a year when I applied for PNP (august 2011) or the federal part (jan 2012). We completed one year in august 2012. However, according to my AOR, sent by CPP the timeline to process my application was 10 months. Which meant that I SHOULD have gotten my PPR in November. 3 months after I was in a common law relationship. So i was waiting to get my PR and then sponsor him. However, now they timeline is 11 months, and there's that email saying that my batch will only be reviewed by or before May 31, 2013.
I sent an Email to Ottawa today, asking what are the steps necessary to add my partner. Im yet to hear from them. And as soon as I know I will let you guys know.
My question now is, would it be a problem that I am only adding my partner now, I mean I was waiting to get my PR before we completed one year together. Would it be a problem that I am informing this now? I don't mind waiting a little longer specially considering the wait times for sponsorship at around 16 months. Appreciate any input.
