Hi All,

I need your help. I have submitted my citizenship application with all the mandatory documents. However, I came to know from different sources and forums that its a good idea to submit additional documents like T4, employment letter and tax return which were not part of the initial package and cic never asked for it?How can I add it to my application? Is it a good idea since I have been working for the last three years with valid T4s.
Thanks for the advice,

My take on this one would be:
1) Sometimes additional documents may bring up other unnecessary questions for CIC.
2) If CIC really needed other documents, they would have requested in the Checklist.
3) Some staff at CIC might look down at additional documents.

If there is any questions in the Form CIT 0002 that you have trouble clarifying or appears muddy, you may include additional documents to clarify those particular questions, otherwise, I do not think additional document is recommended but this is very subjective.

There is no evidence that additional document will fasten your processing time. Someone from this forum might bring that up, but that might just be a coincidence.

Good luck,

Sept15 is correct,
I was in the same situation and called CIC a week ago to inquire on how I could add supportive documents, they told me you don't have to do so, the suggest the additional document might not be linked to your case since theres is no formal request coming for CIC.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but documentation to prove employement (work certificate or T4 slips) IS required to include in your application. It's not mentioned on the checklist, but it is mentioned on the actual application form.

In fact CIC are now asking some key documents to proof residency which require in RQ like T4/NOA etc. Also note, the new law will require to submit 4 years NOA with application. I believe some are the changes in the new law CIC already begun enforcing from Feb, thus the processing time might be less for new applicants..

Probably people who will be submitting NOA, CIC will take that they are the genuine applicants and perhaps no RQ will be issued. so its a good idea to just add enough documents, such as NOA, but not all of it (RCMP report, etd). I was thinking to submit all my travel record to show them the exact days i was absence from Canada.

3 years NOA as a proof of work and all pages of passports with exit/entry stamp could be OK. Another piece of information could be easier for officer to determine travel proof from online residence calculator's "reason column" such as: Visit to the family member or Vacation and adding in bracket "(Ref: Exit and Entry stamp in passport page no#..... )"

The only problem is we are using E-channel which doesnt receive a stamp coming into Canada. So a record of entry from CBSA is much more accurate.

Q 6.F says to provide proof of work documents. It does not exactly says Notice Of Assessments or T4 or Employer letter etc. As employer letter is not that strong as compare to NOA/T4. Also under the new law NOA is the must required documents by CIC. I also called CIC agent and most of them emphasize on NOA as a good work proof (other proof is good too)..

Wow that's really sneaky. I wouldn't have caught it as its not listed as an item in the document checklist!

I have missed this 'work record' bit as I was transferring to the new feb 2014 application from the previous one that I originally filled (they received my application on feb 27th). Although I included an employment letter from my employer with the app, next week I'll send them my t4s & NOAs from the past 4 years with a letter explaining this. It'll work if it'll work... if not i'll wait for them to return my app and then resubmit....

P.S: thats one way of throttling the flow of new applications ;) keep changing the forms every month and keep sneaking things in.....
