Can I add my new born child to the list of dependents after my Canadian Express Entry PR gets approved but before I land in the country the first time?

This is because my employer wants me to start the application right away but I intend to move to Canada a few months after my PR has been approved due to work restrictions.

Is this a current pregnancy or has your child already been born? I am not an expert, but I think it could be misrepresentation not to include the already born child when you fill out your application.

I can't see any reason to wait to fill your application. As soon as your child is born you can get the passport and add to your application. The wrinkle I see is your wife's X-ray being delayed until after she gives birth.

Pippin, I am sorry but I don't follow you entirely. How can I add the new born to my already approved application?

Look in the Family forum threads and check official CIC website. I am not an expert but my understanding is that your approval will be put on hold until your child's medical etc is submitted and approved. If you land before all members of your family have been approved you will have to sponsor them. I know of one family who did not fulfill their residency requirements and had a child in their home country. The daughter's visit visa was refused as they said she would not leave at the end of the visa time. The mother would have to stay with her (or child left with grandparents) if both parents returned to Canada to fulfill the 2 years. This situation is a bit different from yours, but I brought it up to emphasize complicatons that can occur.
