Acquired immigrant visa (FSW) but need to use visitor visa instead

Hello,

I have received my single-entry immigrant visa according to the FSW program. I have not yet moved to Canada but I am planning to do so within two months, but not before (I have certain obligations to attend to).

I am now going through an interview process that will require me to go to Canada for a 1-day on-site interview. They may not be willing to wait for two months until I move to Canada through my immigrant visa, and I cannot use my immigrant visa for that interview since it is a single entry and I will be leaving only after 2 days (no time to settle down or acquire a PR card).

I already have a valid B-1 (visitor-business) visa to Canada. My question is whether I can use it for entry to Canada for the on-site interview, leave Canada 2 days later, and then come back with my immigrant visa 2 months later. Or will I be required to use my immigrant visa instead?

Thank you

I think all you need to do is land, provide an address and return, you will get your PR card mailed to that address even if you are not in the country. its a 1 day affair.

Thank for your response. I am not sure that your proposal is ideal for my situation because:

1- I do not have an address in Canada and I do not know how to get an address in 1 day (an address that I will have access to, 3 months later, to receive my PR card).

2- After I leave Canada without the PR after my 1-day interview, I will have 1 month or may be less to go back to Canada definitvely. In that month, I must apply and acquire a valid Travel Document to be able to enter Canada, since my single entry immigrant visa has been exhausted on the interview. I am not sure that 1 month is enough time to guarantee I get the Travel Document. I also do not want to put myself in stress due to the uncertainty; I will have flight reservations, shipping, and hotel reservations and these plans cannot be easily delayed if the Travel Document didn't arrive in time.

Thank you

I landed yesterday and the CBSA officers told me that i can enter Canada using my COPR if i didn't receive my PR card but there is a chance that airlines won't let you board without a PR card so its advisable to wait until I get my PR card before doing any travelling. But this is what I was told so I don't have any experience.
