Accompanying Goods List? Is this necessary?

I have read on multiple forum posts, the accompanying goods list people talk about is not always asked for at the border? Is this factual?

I am landing this week and will only bring with me one suitcase with my clothes.

Write down "one suitcase with my clothes". There's your list.

If you've made the list, and don't need it: you've wasted fourteen seconds of your life compiling the list.

If you do need the list: you have the list.

What's more important is the non-accompanying goods - if you will do a shipment separate that arrives later, you MUST go to customs on arrival and get them to do their thing with this and give you the forms with stamps etc. You'll need to go back later and present those forms to get your goods in duty-free (as new resident).

(We recently did this second stage and there was a couple at customs that did NOT do this on arrival. We were done in minutes, they were in for a longer journey at customs)

there are two lists generally, goods accompanying and goods to follow. since it is just you you should have the bsf 186 which is goods accompanying. and yes you need it. this is what the border guys will stamp and release when you enter. if you dont have it, they will just give you one and you can fill it out. It has to do with exemptions and taxes and duties and unless you bring a car which your not you dont need to worry about.
