I live in the US and can't find a bank that can make a money order in CAD. Need to send it in with the family sponsorship application.
But they did tell me they can make a 'foreign currency bank draft.'

does anyone know if this is an accepted form of payment for the CIC?

You can just pay them online and submit the receipt: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/information/fees/index.asp
