About Toronto Schooling System

DearAll,
I'm new here and even don't know how to add my status timeline.
Anyhow, I'm waiting for the PRP as I submitted the medical to London Office in the 2st week on Nov 2011.

Me and my wife are concerned about our son's education. She was in a strict British system and I was in a strict french one!
So, we were wondering if there is any schools in Toronto that gives IGCSE upon graduation.
Or if there is any that follows a strict french system - like "La Salle" or "Frères des Écoles".

Or what is the grade that they normally got after high school.

Please tell me if you know any, even if it's private. And if you have any concerns about this direction of thinking.

I don't think Canada has schooling system where students have to appear for centralized exam after 10 and/or 12th grade similiar to IGCSE or GCSE.

At the end of schooling you will be given a high school diploma.
Check the toronto school board website.

There is something called 'International Baccalaureate' which may be similiar.

the website link you sent me has a lot of info that needs time to go through, i think it will be of a great help indeed.

the main purpose of my question here is to get replies like yours not only to check websites,
u know, like someone who is residing already in Canada for sometime now, and who went through kinda similar situation..

as well, I keep on hearing that some of the private schools are loose and kids are totally spoiled there, and others are so closed on self that kids graduate with little experience in life..
that's what I hear, and the fact that my son is the main motive for immigration makes it my focus all the time..

I wish one of the seniors will pass by and help, but I don't know how to contact them

In my opinion education in US and Canada in general is more relaxed. By relaxed I don't mean that curriculum is watered down etc, but kids are given more opportunity or can complete education based on their aptitude, finances, etc.

For eg if u mess up in your SAT, you can give another, than another. It won't matter. You can enroll in vocational courses, colleges, universities than get a transfer.

Europe and Asia don't give that many chances. I don't know much about Europe, but in India you do not get chances. Once you screw up in your board exams you cannot appear for another one(can appear only if you fail) and than you won't get many chances to get into a reputed college.
I don't know exactly but I feel Europe is similiar as our education system is based on the English Education system.

I have lived in toronto for 3 years, my suggestion don't put your kids in toronto schools. 90% children smoke weed(and yes during school), some of them advance to mushrooms and x, its a huge heap of wanna be gangsters who will rob you anyday if given the opportunity. Everybody is into gangster rap and their idols are juelz santana and young jeezy. I am not saying all of them are bad or your children could become like that but from the sounds of it, they won't fit in or they would start imitating.

It depends on the area of Toronto. This definitely is not true of most schools in Toronto.
