About GIC refund

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the GIC refund. I applied for a GIC refund about 2 months ago but still, I am waiting for that amount. I inquired many times on both sides, Scotiabank and my beneficiary bank. Customer services at Scotiabank keep telling me that we already completed the procedure and closed your account, whereas, in my beneficiary bank, they did not receive any single rupees. Even I personally visit my beneficiary bank and checked everything there, and it's true that they did not receive any updates, emails or money.

I requested for swift copy and TT number from Scotiabank but they are not responding to my emails. I tried talking with them over a phone, they told me we are not providing a swift copy or TT number. We only provide the ICN (Internal control number). My bank is not able to trace the transaction using the ICN number.

I am in a big trouble, anyone here can help me solve this problem?

Thank you!

I am just bumping this so others can see and reply.

In my case GIC amount transferred in 4 days to Scotiabank.
In one another friends case. Due to address mismatch the amount was returned and had to retransfer again, which took a total of 12 days.

Tips. You can call them, chat with them. Also reply them through the email account you created while opening the account. Call repeatedly each time a different employee will answer, some will give more information than others.

Hey
I have been in the same situation before. My GIC got rejected and I got my refund after 35 to 40 days. My bank was Scotia. They had pathetic customer service and kept me awaited for so long. If you are in the same situation ask your bank in Canada to send you an email stating why they rejected your transfer and how long will it take you to get hands on your money. After receiving that email, show it to your local bank and ask them to track your payment through swift report. The only bank that can help you in this case is your local bank that transferred your money.
