Hello,

There is one question I couldn't clarify, and wanted to ask you guys to see what your opinion is.

I had to spend 50 days outside of Canada since I became a PR. The current rule for the presence is:
You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least:

  • 1,460 days during the six years right before the date you sign your application
  • 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp#time

When considering to apply for the citizenship, should I wait for 50 more days before I send my application, or is this double the time; 100 days? Even though I wasn't able to find anything indicating that; I kinda remember this from older discussions.. wanted to clarify.

Thanks!

If you have been in Canada since you landed as PR and haven't left since except the 50 days, you need to stay an extra 50 days minimum after you return from your trip to qualify.

Thanks for the reply, screech339. No need for doubling the time abroad then; this was just a speculation.

Cheers,
