Hi guys,

When I started my application process a few months ago this forum helped me a lot. I got a good understand of needed documents, step by step instructions, timelines and other helpful insides.
Something I struggled with was the jungle of abbreviations. All these capital letter didn't make sense and I googled a lot to know what you guys were talking about ;D - it was enjoyable but overwhelming to be honest.

By now I think I got a good understanding of what the abbreviations stand for but still learning new stuff as my application process goes along.
I put this short list together and hope some newbie finds it helpful for her/his navigation and first steps through the threads.

It's a dictionary not an encyclopedia, therefore no detailed information of explanation.
This is not complete (so haters stop complaining) and some information are already covered by other topics but I still list them here.

It's a first introduction to the world of immigration language ;)

BG - Background check > IP - in process NN - not needed NS - not started

CIC - Canadian Immigration Center
Nice job! Just another correction - CIC stands for "Citizenship and Immigration Canada," and that is the old name; the current name is IRCC "Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada"
