hello everyone . last year i got my reference letter from my company hoping to get an ITA soon but it didn't work out . since i work for a big corporate i have to go through alot of supervisors to get the reference letter and i m not sure they will do the letter for me again . i got the ITA on 13th jan and now i am all set to file my eAPR. is there anyone who use an old reference letter and didn't face any problem ??. i am still with the same company and the letter is as per cic requirement . any input is appreciated. thanks

I would definitely recommend trying to get a new letter - one year is a long time for CIC to overlook.

It depends on your jobs roles and responsibilities, if you feel your current roles matches the responsibilities mentioned in the year old document, you should be fine.

A year is quite sometime if it was a few months I would suggest you to submit it. I submitted a reference letter dated in August and I applied in October.
Explain to your supervisors that time is of the essence and you need the same letter just a new one.

Don't be too concerned. Just like a University degree a reference letter retains its currency throughout the passage of time. No need to get a new one.

The purpose of the letter is to prove that you are currently doing the role that you have listed for your NOC and confirm the salary/hours/status of your job.

Ultimately up to you, but if you are concerned enough to ask about it, I would say that getting the new letter will cause you less stress in the long run.

This is my experience with CIC regarding reference letter. I would advise you to get a new reference letter from your current job to be on a safe side. But if you have changed job or company..old reference letter is okay.

That reference letter will be good enough to validate your experience till the date mentioned on the letter. If you want to claim this last year's experience as well, you'll have to provide additional documentation proving continuity of employment till date.

the issue date mention on the letter is 24th Dec 2014. but the letter itself says " abcd has been our employ from 1 jan 2014 to preset "
what you suggest ?

Present being Dec 24 2014, the date that they wrote it. They didn't write that letter knowing that you would still be employed in 2016....

Letter valid from 1st Jan '14 to 24th Dec '14 only. If you want to claim experience gained after that date, get a new letter or prove continuity of employment. You can do the latter by showing evidence including recent appraisal letter, tax forms, salary review letter, recent pay slips etc.
