Hello,

I am a student with 2 years of work experience in NOC Skill level A and a 4-year bachelor degree. My parents and my brother are all pr card holders and well established in Ontario. I am in the US and pursuing my masters at the moment. Is there any chance of applying for family reunification in my case?

The political climate in USA is getting worse day by day and recently an incident of racism occurred with me which has left me quite shocked. I have spent a good portion of the last decade in the US and feel really disheartened about the whole "American dream." I just want to get out of here and be with my family.

ps: I dont have any ties back in my home country and we dont have any properties. My family business is in Canada and we dont have any ties back in our home country.

First off, let me say that I hope you are okay. Nobody should face discrimination or hatred based on their race or ethnicity. Unfortunately the current political climate in the US (which is leaking to Canada) is really bad.

Your situation is peculiar enough for me to suggest you contact an immigration lawyer as this forum may or may not provide you with an accurate answer about your particular situation. I think since your entire family is in Canada already they should contact an immigration lawyer on your behalf.

Good luck.

How old are you?

I order for your parents to sponsor you, you would need to be 21 years old or younger and single (i.e. not married, not in a common law relationship). Also, your parents must have declared you in their PR application and you must have been medically examined.

If you don't meet these requirements, then you will have to qualify for PR on your own through an economic immigration program like Express Entry. To be selected through Express Entry, you'll need to have a score of 470+.

When my parents got pr I was 21 and at that time the rule was to be 18 or younger. After I turned 22 in September they changed the rule to 21. Now I am 25 so it's not possible for them to sponsor me anymore. When they applied for pr I did do the medical examination for them. My current crs score is 363. So I am not eligible for Express entry. Is there a nomination for family reunification?

Not sure what you mean by a "nomination" for family reunification. Family sponsorship is not an option for you due to your age. You'll need to qualify on your own.

Finish your Master's, score as high as you can on your English language tests, etc. to increase your score.
