Hi everyone,

Thanks for looking into this question. I recently had my passport issued and there seems to be a slight misspell on my name entry. In all other documents, my last name spellings are "Ahmad" but in passport it is "Ahmed". I did inform my passport office during the stage of data entry that there is a misspell. They replied that they don't enter name manually by hand, instead they pull name out of database and fit it in. May be its an excuse to cover up their mistake or maybe they are just being honest. Anyway, could this slight misspell in my passport document cause any problems in sponsorship processing in future. I am sure some of you may have faced such a situation. please enlighten me.

Thanks

Basically you need to match all your documents,
birth certificate, immigration papers, etc.
this is not a small issue that you can oversee...
You need to make sure that the error is corrected
or you are going to face problems in the future.
I hope it can be fixed,
But in any case, you need paper record of all what you
are doing to fix the problem for the future.
Somebody telling you about database do not prove anything

Does that mean there is no work around? In third world countries (Pakistan in my case) I believe maintaining 100% consistency in documents is not possible. Like I mentioned before, the mistake was identified and notified during the stage of data entry for the application of Passport but the reply was not in my favour. Is there any other way?

You or your sponsor in Canada can call CIC and ask,
they are in better position to answer because they deal with this matters
and are aware of those inconsistencies that you are mentioning,

Give them a call to CIC Call Centre
