Are you asking if having Canadian PR allows someone to work in the US? If that's what you're asking then the answer is obviously no. Canada and the US are two separate countries.vigneshj said:Whether Canada PR person can move to US and work there?

No - you can't. Even as a citizen of Canada, you still need a visa to work in the US. The same rules apply. AGAIN - Canada and the US are two separate countries.Arif Sarker said:U can move to USA for working purpose after getting citizenship of canada. PR could not allow you to work in USA except H1 visa.
Nope - not that simple at all. You still need a visa as a Canadian citizen. You can't just cross the border and start working and living in the US.vigneshj said:Once you become a Canadian citizen, you can work anywhere in North America legally under the NAFTA agreement.
errrm... that is not totally correct.vigneshj said:ok got it.i got the below statement as well.
It is possible to work in the US after you become a Canadian citizen. Citizenship is obtained after being a permanent resident for a minimum of 3 years. Once you become a Canadian citizen, you can work anywhere in North America legally under the NAFTA agreement.
OK, a little closer. But NAFTA visas are for specific job categories, which change according to need. It's true that if you have the credentials for a NAFTA category, and a job offer on the other side of the US-Canadian border, you can take your credentials and job offer letter to the border and get the work visa right there. But you need both those things! Even then TN-1 visas are temporary residence visas, limited to 3 years.alok4best said:errrm... that is not totally correct.
To become a citizen from PR status, you need to satisfy these on the date of application:
Spent min 1460 days in Canada in over the last 6 years.
Spent at least 183 days each in 4 recent consecutive years, and filed IT returns.
Also, even after you get a Canadian passport, you cant just walk in US and get a job.
You still need a work VISA for US. I guess its TN1 VISA.
Exactly, I was trying not to get too much technical.dobes said:OK, a little closer. But NAFTA visas are for specific job categories, which change according to need. If you want to live in the US, find a way to get there directly - Canada is not a good route!
