A rare student visa/pr case

Hello

My wife recently received ITA. I am added as a co-applicant by my wife. I also am going to study there on a student visa. The issue is, by the time my wife (and I) will be asked for our passport for stamping for PR Visa (after submitting all relevant documents) I will already be in Canada. How will the process work? Also for touchdown and collection of PR Card how will it work (since I will be in Canada)?

Not rare at all. You would just need to update your address and submit your passport in Canada. You would need to flagpole or make a landing appointment after your wife lands.

You will also have to contact the school. You were admitted as an international student which often has lower requirements than domestic students. The school has also budgeted expecting you to pay international fees so they may want to admit another international student.

Also I need a help with another query. Can I show my GIC balance of 10000 CAD as proof of funds for PR?

Already paid the entire fees as an international student. Also not yet received PR so I guess it will not apply for me?

To complete a PR landing you need to either exit and reenter the country with your COPR or make an appointment at an in Canada IRCC office. The term flagpole refers to a process whereby you head for a US/Canada land border cross over to the US and without actually entering the US you tell US CBP you are flagpoling to complete a Canadian immigration landing. US CBP give you an admin refusal of entry slip ( has no effect on future entry to the US) which you take back with you the Canadian side and present together with your COPR to complete a PR landing.
