Hi all,

I recently received an ITA based on my work experience as an early childhood educator.

I was given points for my 2 years of Canadian work experience. However, during my first 6 months, my job title was “Educator/Ministry Approved Educator” rather than “Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)”, since I was in the process of obtaining my RECE license at that time. Despite the different title, I was performing the full duties of an RECE in the classroom (based on my foreign education background and work experience).

According to the IRCC website, ECE positions strictly require licensing, while ECA positions require only education.

My question is: in my LOE, how should I explain that my first six months of experience should still be considered under NOC 42202, even though I had not yet been formally registered as a RECE? Or is it okay as long as the duties match?

Thanks very much!

You can show 2 different positions (one as assistant and the other as educator—both in the same NOC) and outline the job responsibilities accordingly in the reference letter.

Also, are you redoing the upfront medical or will you be using the previous medical information sheet? Mine is 1.5 yrs old and my spouse's is ~4 yrs old.
