A question about best route and NOC classifications under the CEC class?

Hi there,

I have just returned to the UK after working legally in Canada for the last 2 years renovating properties for a company in Calgary, Alberta. I intend to make an application for PR under the Canadian Experience Class. On the NOC website I have come across the NOC classification 0712 (Residentual Home Builders and Renovators), which my prevoius employment in Canada falls under. I am trying to determine if this falls under skill type"0". I have been all through the NOC wesite, looked at the classification matrix etc, but am still unclear as to wether because the first number in the sequence is a "0" it indicates the skill type or wether it has to start with "00"?

Edit: Actually, I just found a link to this matrix (tried to post it, but won't allow me to post links) which suggests NOC 0712 actually falls under skill level "B", which still qualifies.

Also, I am not 100% sure I should apply under "CEC" class or as a "skilled worker", as my previous employer in Canada will re-employ me should I return and as I understand, the offer of employment has no bearing on acceptance under the CEC program. Does anyone have any experience, thoughts or insight they can offer as to what would be my best and quickest route?

Any help would be much appreciated.
