Hi All,

We need an urgent advice please: Do we need to obtain a PCC for CANADA for my dependent who is studying in Canada as an international student? The IO has not mentioned this requirement in his letter sent to me for document update.

All replies are appreciated.

No, CIC/CHC will ask for it if they want it.

Zac, I am quoting from Instruction Guide. You do not need PCC for Canada unless specifically asked for

" You and all of your family members who are 18 years of age and older and who are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens will have to provide:

a valid police certificate, or

a police clearance, or

a record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18."

Hi every one,
I got a document request 2 days back and planning to start the FBI and pcc procedures.

1) should one have the nomination in hand to request for fingerprinting and FBI clearance? Also, what reason should one give for requesting personal criminal record?

2) My wife has an ITIN number, can I put that in the place of SSN

3) last question is, If iam sending through credit card, can I make it as a one time payment of $36 on my credit card for both me and my wife?

Really would appreciate for your replies.

Thanks
PR

Thank you for all the valuable replies but I still need to have more info on this issue such as;

My dependent went to Canada as an international student much later I applied for our PR. Is CHC aware of this movement? As I am filing his Background Declaration form, as he is over 18 now, the CHC would be updating this information. Would CHC ask us again to procure a PCC for Canada for him as they have done so now? Is an international student in Canada not required to have a PCC for Canada to apply for his PR status?

All replies are highly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Zac

Hi Zac,

In your first post, you wrote that the IO did not mention anything about the PCC requirement for your dependent studying in Canada. In your latest post, you wrote "Would CHC ask us again to procure a PCC for Canada for him as they have done so now?" Does it mean they have asked for his PCC?

You still need to clarify a few things: Was he included in your application when you first applied for PR? Is it the IO who asked that you submit his Background/Declaration form? May be what you need is only to update the visa office with change in the status of your dependent i.e. that he is now studying in Canada. CHC may be aware that he is Canada (if he applied for a TRV there) but they may not necessarily update your application regarding his status.

As PMM and Ankit_20 said, CIC/CHC will request for the PCC if they need it but I don't think they will ask for one from Canada. If they do, it will be for your home country.
