Hi everyone, just a little confused about where to start with my husbands sponsorship. Im planning to sponsor him as I am a Canadian citizen and he is american and since we are going to Canada for the holidays, I thought I would just do the application there since its cheaper over there to get his medical examination done. To my knowledge, I thought we were supposed to submit EVERYTHING at once including medical examination but when I call dr's offices they require some kind of form. What form are they talking about? Am i supposed to apply for him BEFORE i go? i have 2 wks before his appt... what should I do now? Where do I start? Ive tried calling the offices but unfortunately, they won't answer my calls since im out of country and 1800 O canada isn't much of ANY HELP!

i figure you experts will know more.

thanks everyone in advance for your input.

Not sure what forms the doctor is asking for either. Medical reports are now done electronically. No forms to fill out. Are you using the designated CIC approved doctor for your medical test? You may want to call back to the doctor and ask them specifically what forms do you require to bring.

Thank you for writing back, yes I am using one of the CIC panel physicians. The secretary told me to "bring the form you received from immigration..." I'm just really confused because I thought EVERYTHING has to be sent at once. Can I do anything to speed up the process before the med exam? I guess other than finish the multitude of paperwork :-X

Also clarify with the dr that this is an up front medical exam for a family class sponsorship. When they hear "immigration medical" they are looking for the requests from CIC for the OTHER immigration streams. Family stream works a bit differently. Your husband will need to bring his passport and drug lists/medications if he takes them. File OUTLAND ;)

Explain to the Dr that you are doing an upfront medical, that does not require any forms. They may want you to bring a passport photo as some panel Drs still don't take the photo's themselves. And they normally ask for your passport . Your husbands passport :)
