Hi everyone.

We are looking to move to Canada and feel that the skilled worker route is probably the best route for us. I have now realised that this can be a long process and just after a few thoughts on what is best to do.

1/ I finish a degree in Education next year so we complete our application now can we up date it when my Degree is finished?

2/ If we are lucky enough to be accepted into Canada how long do you have to move over before the Visa is withdrawn?

3/ Once in Canada do you have to reside there for a period of time before you can take a holiday into another country?

4/ could it really take 5 years for an application to go through? I find that a really hard piec of information to digest when we so want to move to Canada.

5/ I would like to become a Teacher once I was out there, in the Uk you are able to train for one year after completing a degree in education. Is this facility available in Canada.

Hope that we are not asking to many questions.

Thanks every one

1. One of the requirements in the FSW process is that you are supposed to have at least one year of continuous work experience within the last ten years under the profession that you are applying with. They may reject your application if you apply now.

4. It used to take years before the process was completed but nowadays things seem to be speeding up. Under the new rules, they say that you may be able to receive your PR visas in less than a year.

I am sorry I am not able to shed light on your other questions. I hope someone else in this forum will be able to answer them.

Since it's over a year since she posted, I hope she has already found the answers but since the thread has been opened again or for somebody elses benefit..

1. Since FSW applications are not taking years anymore, you will likely not have time to finish your degree between the time you apply and the time you have to send your documents but if you did, you will of course send in the documents stating that you have finished your degree.

2. Normally you have a year from the date of your medicals until your visa expires so maybe almost a year. If you are not ready to move yet, you can land while the visa is still valid and then go back. As a PR, you have to live in Canada 2 years out of every 5 so it's ok if you don't move right away.

3. No, you can come and go as you wish although you do need to stay in Canada at least 2 out of 5 years etc.

4. No, it should not take 5 years anymore. CIC aims at 6-12 months but the new rules are too new to have any experience yet.

5. I don't know
