CIC offers no information and I can't find a thing on Google.......

My wife is in Canada now on a visitor visa and her permanent residence was just approved. Her mom picked up her passport abroad and is sending to Canada with her permanent residence visa inside. So now what? Does she need to leave and re-enter Canada? If so, how the hell does she do that without getting on a plane?

It's not as if she can visit the USA and come right back (she would need to apply for a US tourist visa!).

Any ideas? I can't believe CIC doesn't answer this question nor do they answer their bloody phone

I think she just needed to meet an immigration officer to make her a land PR.. If im not mistaken some people are actually doing that going to the border and meeting an immig officer. You can ask some people in other thread just to make sure.

She can do what's called "flagpoling". She can request an administrative refusal.

1. 2 choices, she can make an appointment to "land" at an inland office by phoning the call centre, 18882422100 (6-8 weeks) or she can "flagpole". She goes to the closest Border point with Immigration services, goes to the US side, gets an administrative rejection (no effect on future entries) returns to the Canadian side and is "landed" .
