7 Months today still waiting for passports return

Hello all,
Please help me someone we sent our passports December 2010 till today no passports 7 months now when we sent them email to CIC its just saying is in Process and if you need passports back send us prepaid envelope and we send you back and we request you again when we ready. Then why they request passports in December 2010, they mentioned in email that we need passports and RPRF fee for all members for finalized the application. Damm I don't know what we should do our life is stuck no movement at all. Please senior advise.

Note: Our even medicals expired in March 2011

I passed mine last Dec 2010 also. Meds will expire on October. Waiting sucks...

my suggestion is that , Apply for caips . may be background checks are taking longer..
u will coem to know whats happening with ur case.

I sent an email, but they sent a standard reply:

We have received your passports and your file is in queue for finalization. We regret that we are unable to provide a specific timeframe for the finalization of the application, and we appreciate your understanding while you wait to hear more from our office.

hi,

I got following reply from CIC New Delhi.

"Your file is currently with an immigration officer for final review. As your family's background checks are still pending, I am unable to provide you with a final decision at this time."

I have send passports 10 monts ago and mdecial is expiting in next month.

Not sure what it mean as they mentioned BC is still pending....

I am unable to understand why this background checks took such a long time. I think, In majority of the cases your passport should come with maple leaf within 2-3 month. Am I wrong?
