This may seem a silly question.

Both myself and my husband are in the process of completing our application forms to emigrate to Canada. On the CIC website it shows 2 fees. Applicant: $550 (processing fee) + $490 (RPRF) $1040
Spouse/Partner: $550 (processing fee) + $490 (RPRF) $1040


Does this mean it's going to cost me $2080 ( £1000+) just to apply.

Yes but you don't have to pay the RPRF fee unless you are approved so you don't have to pay it right away.
