5121 - Authors and writers: Educational qualification

I am a technical writer by profession for past 5 years but holding a masters in biotechnology. (no work/education done inside Canada)

I was just wondering

1. Does relevant educational qualification matter while applying for immigration? - is it mandatory to have a language/communication related qualification to apply in this category? (5121 - Authors and writers)
2. Though my educational qualification is not related to my work experience, will it be counted while calculating points?
