Hi Guys,

My uncles renewing his PR card which expired in April 2015.
He's in Canada and more than requires his residency obligations but to make sure hes filling out the form correctly,

should the forms be filled 5 years from say todays date or 5 years from the date of expiration of the card (april 2015)

hes travelled a few times as he does every where but some of those trips would be excluded if he goes back 5 years from today
other wise going back 5 years from april they would be included

additionally for say addresses and stuff as well. we tried to look online and the instruction guide but didn't find much.

thank you in advance!

Period during which compliance with the PR Residency Obligation is calculated is five years from the date the application is made. Thus, travel history, address history, work history, and so on, should reflect the five years immediately preceding the day the application is signed and submitted.

Expiration date of the PR card is irrelevant.

See the instruction in the form itself. It is very straight forward. See form at this CIC pdf.

Thank you very much!

just to clarify;

he was working abroad for about 6 months from january 19 2010 to september 5 2010

but since 5 years from today would go back to October 10 2010

when hes filling out residency history and stuff

does he fill in his dates as october 10th 2010? eventhough he was out of canada before that?

sorry if its confusing, basically he just has to fill in everything start 10th october 2010, right? and declare ALL absences after that date?

additionally; whenever he left the country he was out with his wife who is a canadian citizen; should he add this as additional information or anything?

thank you in advance.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
He should fill his absences as of 5 years ago and not since he became PR.

There is another section for time spent abroad with a citizen spouse.
